Junior Math Olympians Win Gold
Our team of four mathematicians competed in the Junior Division math contest held recently in Barrie. Jake, Alessia, Callum and Montana reported that the experience was full of challenges, excitement, and fun. As they explained, there were individual questions, partner questions, coding, all sorts of puzzles like KENKENs, group tasks and even a math problem relay race.
Just before the gold winning school was announced, Alessia told her teammates to pray and those prayers were answered. Monsignor J.E. Ronan brought home gold!
Montana explained that coding was the most challenging part of the day because it was difficult to calculate angles on a computer. Jake and Callum elaborated that one particular trapezoid question was very tricky, but they came through with the correct answer demonstrating that sticking with a challenge is important for success.
Ms. Horan, team coach, detailed how our students represented us very well with their competitive and respectful spirit.
We are very proud of our Math Olympians. Congratulations, Junior Math Team!
